Minuet in G

Lots of stuff going on with me … just not quite bloggable yet. So, let me leave you with a fun little piece from Bach called Minuet in G - I really enjoyed learning this one - it’s pretty simple and fun to play. I’m about 90% of the way there on Moonlight Sonata and will share that with you whenever I have some hours to sit down and finish it. Enjoy!

End of April

OK OK I promise to blog more often — twice in April is not very good! It’s funny … I really wonder if people actually read whatever musings I decide to post on a given day, then I run into an old high school friend, Kari, and she admits she is a blog stalker — although she finally did post a comment! :) And often times I tell friends or family what I think is a new story or something that I did and they respond, “Yeah - I saw that on your blog.” … at least I have a dedicated, if small, readership!

Had an interesting week a couple of weeks ago. I went on a business trip to Philadelphia — there is a lot of potential for this to have a big impact on what I do … I’m hopeful that things will work out because it will change things from me just running a small business, but I will share more on that later once there is more to share.

Anyway, my cousin Darin and his wife Jeanine live up in Philly — or the suburbs anyway. However, it was a pretty tough week at work for Darin, with people in from out of town and working late, so he wasn’t available until Friday night. Although my business stuff was finished after a long Wednesday and then Thursday morning, I figured that I could stay over through Saturday. I hadn’t seen Darin and Jeanine’s house and they have been there five years — seems like yesterday they just moved there!

Anyway, what to do on Thursday night? Well, Atlantic City is just a short jaunt away! So, after my business meetings on Thursday I headed over to the Borgata — one of the more well known poker rooms (If you watch the WPT the Borgata Open final table airs this week). I had never been to Atlantic City so I had to check it out. The room is HUGE — about 85 tables — and many of them full with players. Very cool.

I played late into the night / early morning and, no Mom, I didn’t win, but it was a pretty enjoyable experience. I played cash games for a while, but was not running good at all. So, I played in the 7pm tournament placing 17th out of about 80 or so entrants, which isn’t too bad — however, only 9 places paid.

Friday afternoon I headed over to Darin and Jeanine’s. Philadelphia traffic was abysmal and, of course, I was driving smack in the middle of rush hour. I finally got out there a little after 6pm, after having to get written up at the toll booth near their house. When I drove up to the booth the woman asked me for my ‘ticket’. I told her I didn’t have one and she asked, “Why not?” I wasn’t sure what to say at this point, so I countered, “Uh… I don’t know … I’m not from here?” Apparently I had driven through an earlier booth and not gotten a ticket! She let me go for a one-time special fee of a buck-fifty after taking down a bunch of information from me. Sorry to whoever was behind me in line! :)

The weather was completely awesome and we sat outside for dinner. Darin cooked up some fish on the grill — after having some amazing scallops wrapped in bacon as hors d’oeuvres! YUM!! Jeanine added her special touch with the sauce for the fish and sides, and cooked up an awesome breakfast the next morning, I might add!

We had a great time after dinner sitting in their backyard drinking some scotch and enjoying a nice cigar! It was a lot of fun to catch up and I’m really glad that we got the change to visit — thanks for having me guys! :)
